Welcome to my boat blog.
Hey, I'm Chanel - self proclaimed, Captain Coco.
I have been restoring a 1973, 30ft. C&C Sloop on and off for the past 6 years, as I've lived a fairly transient life. It has been a wild adventure of DIY restoration projects, full of trial and error as I've submerged myself in to the deep unknown. When I found her, she was sitting in the Choquer & Son's shop yard, abandoned and waiting to be put up for auction. I couldn't help but jump at the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream, to learn how to sail and live on the water.
She was originally run aground, her keel was knocked loose, and was laid on her side on a low tide. At that time, I was fuelled by the true passion of a naive optimist. That being said, I had my hands full but I was ready, willing, and excited to embark upon a new chapter of this nautical life. An undeniable, innate sense of belonging to the sea.

I am mostly self taught, or guided by the knowledge of my Father. I am fortunate to have access to tools from his shop, and a close community of other boat enthusiasts at the dock to seek out advice from. Youtube, and google have been lifesavers too...
I decided to create this blog to share my knowledge and experience with other seekers of the sea.

I hope you enjoy following my journey, learning from my mistakes, and maybe even become a little inspired to take a risk or two in life...

Fair winds and following seas,
Cpt.Coco
