Okay, so I'm usually not one to follow the status quo, but when it comes to nautical superstitions I would rather not risk a bad omen when it comes to the open ocean. 'They' say it's bad luck to change the name of your boat, and with a name like Intrepid it just didn't make any sense to. Looking fresh with a brand new coat of Endura paint, it was only necessary to also paint her name in pride too. Originally, I was just going to get a laser cut sticker but the boys down at the dock quickly shot down the idea. "That will look cheap" They said. "It will collect mildew" They said.. So, another DIY project it would have to be!

I found a font that I liked, printed off on paper at home, cut out and then transferred to vinyl fabric. I taped the fabric stencil to the boat, and sanded down where I would be painting. I also taped plastic all around the hull to avoid any after spray while painting. I used a white glossy spray paint, and finished the outline with black pin stripe.

Like most projects, I had never done this before so it was fun to play around with what worked, and what didn't. As some of you may know about me, I have a tendency to be O.C.D with some things.. Every time I look at the stern, I see the crooked 'P' but it doesn't bother me anymore - it is now a reminder that although in life we have certain expectations we can't always fore see the outcome. That P is perfectly imperfect!

Overall, I think it turned out pretty great. I believe there is power in the energy you put in to things, with love, patience and resilience beautiful things are able to manifest.
